Samsung has just launched Galaxy Note 9, the successor to their last year's Note 8. A lot of people online are a bit disappointed with the new Note from the South Korean Giants. Is it a worthy upgrade ? If you have a Note 8, should you be splashing money on the new Note 9 ?

Let's for a few minutes forget about the existence of the Note 8 and look at the specs of Note 9.
You get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor - the current fastest chipset available for Android phones - and has a beautiful, gorgeous Quad HD AMOLED screen. That screen would probably be the best screen you can have on a smartphone in 2018. Galaxy Note 8 is available in 6GB ram 128GB and 8GB ram 512GB storage options. In addition to that, you also get an Sdcard slot which has become a rarity in Flagship Android smartphones. Samsung always uses the best, fastest storage for their high end devices, which means whatever you throw at it, Note 9 would be snappy. For the first time, Samsung is also bringing a large 4000mAh battery to the Note 9 lineup.
If there is an area which is slightly disappointing in the specs sheet is the Camera. In reality it is not actually disappointing, Samsung has equipped this with one of the best performing camera hardware on to it. However, the disappointing part is it is the same setup we saw it on the Galaxy S9 Plus. So there is no Camera hardware update here, but Samsung has improved the software.
One other area Samsung has improved comparing to last year's Note 8 is the S Pen. It is now Bluetooth connected, which means you can click the buttons on it to launch apps or trigger the Camera. Cool.
So let's go back to Note 8.
Comparing the specs between Note 8 and Note 9, you are actually getting a better camera, bigger battery, newer software features, AI like Camera features, a bluetooth connected S Pen and more ram and storage with the Note 9. It is true the Camera is the same as the S9+ - but that's not a bad thing. So, overall, in my honest opinion, it's a worthy upgrade to last year's Note 8.
What if you already own a Galaxy Note 8 ?
There is a rumor online that Samsung is planning to merge Galaxy S series and Galaxy Note Series in to a single Series. Which means, future Galaxy S10 ( Galaxy X or whatever they call it ) would ship with an S Pen and better cameras. So if i were you, i would continue to use the Note 8 and wait for Samsung to unleash their next flagship series.
