Motorola has launched Moto G5 Plus in India at a price of Rs 14,999 - Rs 16,999. Another Motorola mobile available in India at this price range is Moto M launched a while ago. So which one to buy ? Let's check out the specs differences between these two mid range Android smartphones.
Processor : Moto M is powered by Mediatek Helio P15 and Moto G5 Plus has Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. Both are 64 bit Octacore processors. Helio P15 is a 28nm chipset while Snapdragon 625 is a 14nm one. Lower the nm, better the battery backup and the newer the processor is. So Moto G5 Plus is a clear winner here. Both scores around 60000 in Antutu benchmark tests.
RAM, Storage : Both Moto M and Moto G5 Plus come in different ram ( 3GB, 4GB ram ) , storage configurations. Moto M is available in 64GB variant while the max internal storage on Moto G5 Plus launched in India is 32GB. However, you get an sdcard slot which is NOT a hybrid sim one.
Operating System : Moto G5 Plus ships with Android 7 Nougat with Android Assistant which is newer than Marshmallow on Moto M. ( Nougat update available ).
Camera : Moto M has a 16MP rear camera while Moto G5 Plus has a 12MP one. Don't look at the number here and think Moto M has a better camera. MotoG5Plus has an F1.7 aperture Dual Pixel Auto focus main shooter which should perform much better than the camera on the Moto M.
Battery : Both ships with identical capacity batteries - Moto M has 3050mAh while Moto G5 Plus ships with 3000mAh. Turbo charging ( fast charging ) is supported on both these devices.
Network : Both these devices support 4G VoLTE - yes you can use Reliance Jio sim on these phones. Moto G5 Plus has a newer Bluetooth version - 4.2.
Verdict : So which one to buy ? Moto M or Moto G5 Plus ? I would recommend buying the newer Moto G5 Plus over older Moto M. Check out the product pages here.
