Galaxy A series smartphones are mid-range smartphones, however are priced a little higher. You can buy a more powerful OnePlus 5T 6GB ram 64GB for this price. So for Rs 32,990, is it worth it ? Let's check out the specs in detail.
Galaxy A8+ is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 7885 Octacore processor. Out of the 8 cores, 2 are clocked at 2.2 Ghz while the remaining 6 cores run at 1.6Ghz. It ships with Android 7 Nougat with Touchwiz UI on top.
Indian variant ships with 6GB of ram and 64GB of internal storage. According to official website, there is also a 4GB ram variant, which might launch in India at a later time.
Samsung's AMOLED screens are second to none. That's the reason why even Apple buy those for their iPhone X mobiles. Galaxy A8+ features a Full HD+, bezel less, Super AMOLED screen, which samsung's marketing team fondly calls as "Infinity Display". The screen has a PPI of 441.
Samsung is bringing Live Focus feature, which they debuted on high end Galaxy Note 8, to Galaxy A8+. On Note 8, this feature is available for the rear camera. On Galaxy A8+, you get this for the front camera as there are Dual Cameras on the front.
It sports a 16MP F1.9 aperture + 8MP F1.9 aperture front cameras with which you can take DSLR like Portrait shots. Unlike other phones, the blur produced by Samsung's bokeh mode aka depth effect can be readjusted before and also after you have taken the shot. On the back, there is an F1.7 aperture 16MP shooter which should take good photos in low light as well thanks to it's larger aperture.
In the battery department, Samsung has equipped this with a 3500mAh battery. Samsung, unlike Apple did with iPhone X, offers both Fingerprint Sensor unlock as well as Face Recognition unlock on this phone. It also supports Samsung Pay payment feature in India.
Kudos to Samsung for making this is water and dust resistant phone. It has an IP68 rating, which means you can talk and take pictures even in the pouring rain. ( Don't take it for a Swim though ).
Galaxy A8+ comes in two colors - Black and Gold. Samsung is yet to launch the regular Galaxy A8 2018 in India. It has similar specs, but a smaller display and less powerful battery.
